2 BEST/INMARSAT Bandwidth Efficient Satellite System Functional Connectivity Requirement –BEST functionality to be relocated to the New Comm Shelter. –Provide Primary SIPRNET Connectivity. –Provide Backup NIPRNET Connectivity. –SMIS (MSC) U-LAN and C-LAN. Connectivity to be relocated to New Comm Shelter. –BEST Bandwidth will be used for Exercise.

3 BEST Bandwidth Efficient Satellite System SIM –Relocate BEST/LAN rack from Communications/Radio Room to Comm Shelter. ISS –Power up BEST rack. –SOVT BEST rack to include NIPRNET and SIPRNET connectivity. –Provide Training for BEST Operation.

4 U-LAN ISS –Relocate Marine COT SMIS NIPRNET workstation to Shelter. –Relocate Marine Communications/Radio Room SMIS NIPRNET workstation to Shelter. –Configure SMIS NIPRNET Network –Test all SMIS NIPRNET workstations using the new connections on NIPRNET in the Shelter. –Install KVM switches on the two (2) SMIS NIPRNET workstations in the Marine Admin. Space for NTCSS Compatibility/Backup.

5 C-LAN SIM –Install SMIS C-LAN Fiber Backbone. –Install Eight (8) C-LAN Wyse terminals (4 in hold 6, 1 in Marine Admin, 1 in Marine COT, 2 in Comm Shelter). –Install dedicated C-LAN printer for C-LAN server in Shelter. ISS –Relocate the SMIS C-LAN workstation from the Marine Communications/Radio Room to the Shelter. –Configure SMIS C-LAN server. –Configure SMIS C-LAN Wyse terminals. –SOVT C-LAN. –Configure C-LAN client accounts. –Train C-LAN administrator and users.

7 POA&M BEST and NIPRNET SOVT –Two (2) days once Bandwidth is established. C-LAN and SIPRNET Configuration/ SOVT –Five (5) days from end of C-LAN HM&E. Possible delays –Availability of BEST Bandwidth and SIM HM&E.

8 Issues –Determine SMIS SIPRNET workstation requirement for in the Marine Communications/Radio Room to the Shelter. –Validate SMIS U-LAN Workstation Requirements. –Validate SMIS C-LAN Workstation Requirements. Need to Coordinate the Thin-client Workstation Installation for Designated Containers. –Validate SMIS SIPRNET Account Requirements. –Provide Personnel List for Training for BEST/U-LAN/ C-LAN and Availability for Training. –Need to Address all IA Issues. –Bandwidth Limitation is an Issue. Limited to what is available at time of Exercise.
