THE CADDOE INDIANS SHELTER PROJECT

 Caddos lived in dome shaped brush huts.  The dome shaped brush huts are wooden poles covered with grass.  Several families could live in a Caddo home.

 Caddo farmed corn, beans, squash, and melons.  The Caddo made very beautiful pottery and bows.  The Caddo men and women worked side by side in the garden unlike many other tribes.

 Most Caddo wore deer skin clothing and moccasins during summer and fall.  During the winter months the Caddo wore buffalo hide robes and clothing to keep warm.  The Caddo used a bow as their prime weapon.  The Caddo did little hunting so most weapons were souly for defensive purposes.

 The Caddo men and women were tattooed all over their bodies.  The Caddo men wore breech-cloths and leggings.  The Caddo women wore wrap around skirts and poncho tops.  Both Caddo men and women wore earings and moccasins.
