What is Integrated Pest Management? Integrated Pest Management, or “IPM”  A way of managing pests that takes human health and the environment into consideration  A proactive approach to pest management. The focus is on prevention of pests by reducing the conditions that encourage pests: food, water, shelter sources.  Allows for the use of lowest toxicity pesticides, which are used only after trying non-chemical, common sense measures (exception: pest emergencies).
