OUTLINE Introduction CAP in Earthquake and Tsunami Warning CAP in Weather Extreme Warning

INTRODUCTION BMKG (Meteorology climatology and geophysical agency) Official institution for Meteorology Climatology and Geophysical in Indonesia since 1947 Join with WMO in 1950 With 4000 employees ~ 170 offices ~ 300 observation points

Earthquake and Tsunami InaTEWS Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System

InaTEWS INTRODUCTION Indonesia is prone to earthquakes because it is located at the meeting point of three tectonic plates, namely: Indo-Australian Plate, the Eurasian plate and the Pacific plate. The meeting point of three tectonic plates are located on the sea so that when a large earthquake occurs at shallow depths, it can be potentially tsunami. Therefore, Indonesia is prone to tsunamis

InaTEWS INTRODUCTION cont. Learning from the experience of the earthquake and tsunami in Aceh, Mentawai and other areas that cause casualties and property losses, therefore it is needed preparedness efforts by both government and the community to reduce the risk due to earthquake and tsunami. As the tsunami hazard preparedness efforts, the government of Indonesia in cooperation with various parties established the Indonesian Tsunami Early Warning System
