Grading Process Grading is done over 3 stages: When kiln dried raw material arrives to factory After the boards are split, through cut etc just before the thermo treatment phase Final grading is after thermo-treatment and after profiling (planning). This is when the “face” of the board is choosen. Thermory Pine

Visual Grading Rules for Thermory Pine FACE Graded face - Smooth, without visible mechanical damage from tools. No Hit & Miss allowed Ungraded face - Cutting marks max 2mm width allowed  KNOTS Bark ringed knot - Allowed 5 knots within 2 metres. Maxium knot size is 20% of piece’s width Black & Dead fixed knots - Allowed, at face area maximum size 20% of piece’s width, at edges maximum size 50% of piece’s thickness Broken knot - Allowed when breakage is invisible after installation. Small cracks inside healthy knots are allowed Edge and Arris knot - Allowed in all sizes, when solid Knot cluster - Allowed, when knots’ within cluster are solid Loose knot and hole - Not allowed, if loose knot or hole is visible in usage Pin knots - Sound < 10mm are allowed Rotten knot - Not allowed Sound knot size - Solid sound knots allowed max. ½ of the width Splay knot - Sound knot rules apply to sound splay knots Impregnated Pine
