Report By: Grace Buehlmann “The Great Shake” The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire Report By: Grace Buehlmann

When was it ? what was the magnitude? The Great Shake was on April 18, 1906. The shaking began at 5:12am. It ended about 60 seconds later. The magnitude is estimated to be between 7.7 and 8.3.

Shaking Intensity Map

Damage Their were about 3,000 casualties. 28,000 buildings were destroyed. The monetary loss was more than $400 million.

Stanford U after earthquake

The Plate Tectonics behind the earthquake The plates involved in the earthquake were the Pacific plate and the North American plate The fault is called the San Andreas fault The boundary is a transform boundary
