Round table : The role of green economy in sustainable development Mag. Vanesa Čanji Ptuj, 19th November, 2014

What is a 'green economy'? A green economy is one that generates increasing prosperity while maintaining the natural systems that sustain us. A green economy is one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities (UNEP).

What is a 'green economy'? Green economy can refer to -sectors (e.g. energy), -topics (e.g. pollution), -principles (e.g. polluter pays), -or policies (e.g. economic instruments). It can also describe an underpinning strategy, such as the mainstreaming of environmental policies or a supportive economic structure.

What is a 'green economy'? Can a green economy be accomplished without human resources / social capital? If not, does a green economy equals to sustainable development?

The key to a green economy -In EU an objective was made to "decouple" growth from resource use and its impacts to achieve "Living well, within the Boundaries of the Planet". -Environment policy was no longer to be seen as a constraint on growth. -Our future growth would be determined by our ability to face resource constraints and get more value out of each tonne of materials, each hectare of land, each cubic meter of water, each joule of energy.

The key to a green economy Unfortunately, translating the idea of a green economy into reality is hugely more complicated then a simple definition. Clearly, it requires: -technological innovation -new value sistem -new social agreement -….

Zelena Slovenija – Green Slovenia Zelena Slovenija (Green Slovenia) is a comprehensive program that combines a number of communication projects.

Zelena Slovenija – Green Slovenia Green Network of Green Slovenia connects our green media and opens the way for the exchange of green ideas and good practices (companies, institutions, schools, municipalities and others).

For green goals! Each green (sustainable) step, which is successfully launched and communicated, may be a goal in a series of important green victories!
