6 Pillars of Character Trustworthiness Respect Responsibility Fairness Caring Citizenship

"confidence or faith in a person or thing" Definition of trust "confidence or faith in a person or thing"

Trustworthiness Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal Trustworthiness : blue Think "true blue"

A Question to ask… Is it possible to rebuild trust, after you've made some huge mistakes? How?

Take this self-evaluation to decide if you are a person of trustworthiness: True False   I keep my promises; I am a person of my word.       True False I am reliable; I follow through on commitments.       True False I am honest       True False I keep secrets; I never betray a confidence or a trust.       True False I have integrity; I don't cave in to temptation.       True False I am loyal when loyalty is appropriate.

Discussion Questions… Some adults say that your generation cannot be trusted, that you've lost the values from past generations. Do you agree, or disagree? How important is trust in your relationships with friends and family? How would these relationships be affected if you found out someone was lying to you? What are the benefits of being a trustworthy person? A question to think about on your own… If your friends were here right now, would they say you were trustworthy? What would your parents say? Are you more trustworthy with your friends or with your parents? Do you think your parents should trust you automatically? Why or why not?

A video that represents trust… Click on the following link to watch: http://www.teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=67122&title=Trustworthiness ** This video was created as an entry into the Character Counts by a Wilson High School student.
