A little about SAMR

First.. Think about one lesson, maybe something that could use a little spicing up. Do you use an iPad in it? If you don’t, how could you? If you do, how could you elevate the activity to another leavel?

Substitution Taking that one lesson you thought of..what can they use on the iPad to substitute part of that lesson? TaskSubstitute Take notesUse the Notes app Highlighting reading passagesGet the book in iBooks and highlight in the app Research a topicUse Google or another search engine Turn in a paper instead of printing

Augmentation Now, how can you improve on your substituted activity? SubstituteAugment Use the Notes appUse Evernote to categorize and tag notes Get the book in iBooks and highlight in the app Write notes and questions about the text Use Google or another search engine Bookmark and share resources using Share button instead of printingStudents submit to a shared folder

Modification Now how are you going to take that activity and begin to elevate and redesign it? AugmentModify Use Evernote to categorize and tag notes Using SlingNote to curate sources Write notes and questions about the text important passages and collect in Evernote Bookmark and share resources using Share button Download and annotate text using Skitch Students submit to a shared folder Managing files from a server and Google Drive using GoodReader

Redefinition Now it’s time to completely redesign your original activity, it won’t take that long you’re halfway there already! ModifyRedefine Using SlingNote to curate sources Sharing notes and collaborating using Evernote important passages and collect in Evernote Record summary and passages of book in Evernote Download and annotate text using Skitch Mind mapping concepts visually Managing files from a server and Google Drive using GoodReader Allow peer feedback ad collaboration using a wiki

Now.. Take a look at your original activity and your redefined one, would you have even imagined your redefined activity before?
