At the age of 12 – Mother Teresa Heard a voice within her that urged to spread the Love of Christ.

At the age of eighteen Left her parental home Joined an Irish community of Nuns called the Sisters of Loreto.

After taking a few months training at the institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dublin. Mother Teresa came to India.

On May 24, 1931 She took her initial vows as nun. She served as a teacher from 1931 to 1948 at St. Mary’s High School in Kolkata (Now calcutta.) In 1948 she got permission from her superiors to leave the convent and devote herself to work for the poorest of the poor in the slums.

Mother Teresa’s initial jobs (Look attentively the red colour word for complete the passage in lesson-5 Section:A) To prepare herself she took a medical training with the American Medical Missionary sisters at Patna. Her first course of action was to gather the children from the slums of Kolkata and start to teach them. In 1950 her group received official status as a religious community. Members took the traditional vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, but they added a fourth vow- to give free service to the most poor. In 1957 the Missionary of charity received significant publicity.

They expanded their school from one to nine. Opened home for orphans and abandoned children Soon they were in more than 22 cities in India. She visited other countries to start new foundation in Sri Lanka, Australia, Venezuela and Italy.

More Jobs (Look attentively the red colour word for complete the passage in lesson-5 Section:A) Mother Teresa’s group continued to expand through out the 1970s. They opened new missions in Amman of Jardan, London of England, New York. By 1979 Mother Teresa’s group established their mission more than 200 different operations in over twenty five countries.
