ILGA Women’s Project Survey  Aim of survey  To whom it was sent  Usefulness of ILGA’s material and activities  The future

Gender and Region of Respondents

Which social network would you like ILGA to develop or create? “Implement the "Map" with different methodologies and tools in the website! For example by using a Youtube video. Also, include a qualitative mapping with a gender perspective.”

Usefulness of the following tools ‘The ing lists have been fundamental in sharing knowledge.” “I learn a lot from ILGA's website. It keeps me updated to what's going on in the world and inspires me in my own activism”

“We sent the leaflet to gynecologists...” “We translated and adapted the leaflet...” Usefulness of the following tools “I give out the information in women's festivals and at family planning centers events.”

“ A wonderful instrument for spreading knowledge among lesbians and other people on our multiple histories and experiences.” “Very useful to confront, to get new ideas and find allies and to get the feeling that we are not alone. “ Usefulness of the following tools

“The pre-conference on lesbian and bisexual health in Geneva was the starting point for my interest and involvement about lesbian health. We have translate and adapted the leaflet on breast- and uterus cancer, we collaborated on introducing the references of the brochure "lesbian and bisexual health" on our homepage….” Usefulness of the following tools

“ILGA's presence at UN and international events is very important for us because it serves as voice in places where it would be very difficult for us to go” Usefulness of the following tools

“ILGA has become an important partner in a number of venues.” “Consistent participation and collaborative engagement with others who are in these spaces will make the advocacy richer, and will contribute to lesbian leadership development in global arenas”. Usefulness of the following tools

“ILGA's involvement in UN assisted in improving our competences in implementing some of our empowerment projects” Usefulness of the following tools

How did you use ILGA’s tools and information obtained from events? Which Impact had those tools on your work ? To raise awareness to pairs and members To make research on specific topics To widen my knowledge on certain topics Enriched knowledge and an increased awareness on lesbians issues Created a network with international organizations Translated and distributed health publications to health care providers

Which among the following should continue to be part of ILGA’s work?

Some comments… Lesbian rights and UN: that's ILGA's most important raison d'être, so go on.. ONU: superclave la incidencia en organismos de orden regional - mundial If ILGA doesn’t, who does it? Where I live, UN resolutions and recommendations are meaningless, they bare no value and are never respected Investing too much resources in UN commissions would be a real waste of our limited resources Advances Lesbians issues in UN… Awareness raising… Expand feminist work to an understanding that includes queer people, trans people, gender non- conforming people, and gay men Continue to make extra efforts for opening up spaces for Ls and Ts in the LGBT movement ILGA's material helped in increasing awareness on lesbians health Research & Publications… Investigaciones y publicaciones: la investigaciòn es clave para todo…

How could ILGA further improve gender empowerment? Training on leadership for lesbians 45 Training for LGBT organisations on how to be more inclusive of lesbians 49 Provide trainings/workshops on the definition of gender and gender roles 37 Share experience among lesbians on how to achieve gender equality and empowerment 35 Workshop on how to work with lesbians allies 34 Research and publications on lesbians’ related topics 41 Other * 25 * - Promote funding for lesbian work and projects - Promote a deconstruction of gender discrimination on the basis of a strong consciousness on this matter.

The most important recommendations for the next three years Support / Work on :  Lesbian health and mental health issues  Lesbian visibility  Lesbian empowerment  Organise spaces for lesbians to meet: conferences, meetings and events  Be active in social network sites  Work in the United Nations
