A LEAFLET

What’s a leaflet? Leaflets are a type of open letter which is designed to be handed out to the people to grab their attention. To advertise a product. To provide information about important issues or events. To draw attention to any organisation, cause or event.

Format Title and slogan To get people’s attention. Catchy Introduction Write the history or mission of the organisation or place. Subheadings Give informative headings for different sections. Sections provide information and facts about the topic. Be persuasive: Use compelling language to make people think. Tell people why this event/place is good for them. Add important information: opening times, conditions, price, etc. Attractive illustrations and photographs Include contact information or where to get further details

Language features A range of different tenses: They are usually written in the present tense, using emotive language and often using metaphores and similes. Simple and direct language. Use of positive words. Use of non-discriminatory language.

YOUR TASK Write a leaflet of around 250 words. Due date: 23Rrd March Choose your favourite Wonder of The World (place) and write a leaflet. Do not worry about the format. There’s no need to make it look like a leaflet. The content is what matters.
