Reading and Math Classes We determine classes so they are the best instructional fit for each student. We use data and performance indicators that inform us of a student’s current learning needs. Your child’s instructional teacher will communicate, to their students, the specific requirements of their class.

Teacher Contact IMPORTANT!! Save your copy of the Home School Communication Plan to refer to ALL YEAR! If you have a question or a concern, please contact the subject area teacher to which it directly relates. Subject areas Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Homeroom, Specialist

Communication Norms School View - updated as needed every 2 weeks Purpose - For parents to track missing assignments & monitor academic progress Teacher Websites - updated every 2 weeks Purpose - For parents to find classroom information Parent Communication Meetings – on the following dates: August 28September 23 October 9 November 13 February 19April 28 Purpose - Opportunity to meet with any of your child's teachers during the year to discuss concerns or to check-in on progress **** s, phone calls, e-blasts will be on-going as needed****

Planner & Turtle Lake Folder Students are responsible for bringing their planner & TL Folder to EVERY subject area where they will record & file daily information as required by the teacher. We encourage you to read the planner & review their TL Folder daily with your child. Do not remove anything from the right hand side. These items are an essential form of communication between home and school!

Homework We expect kids to rely on their planner as a primary tool for guiding their completion of homework and preparing for their classes. If you have questions about your child’s homework, please contact the subject area teacher for details.

Late Assignments 5 th graders are expected to manage their materials, assignments, and overall workload. Late assignments will receive a LATE SLIP, which is a form of communication and documentation between teacher, child, and/or parent. Late slips are not factored into a grade, however students will be responsible to make up the work to receive credit. Common reasons students receive a late slip: -Incomplete assignments -Lost assignments -Assignments “accidentally” left at home, yet complete -Assignments removed from child’s folder by a caretaker

We are looking forward to a great year!
