DegreeWorks: A Degree Audit and Advising Tool for Bristol Community College Student Planner Tutorial Spring 2011

Academic Planner Click on the Planner tab to access the Academic Planner. Your current worksheet appears on the left side of the screen, and the Planner appears on the right. You can increase or decrease each side by dragging the gray bar in the middle of the screen to the left or the right.

Academic Planner 1) To add a new plan, you must first name it in the Description box and identify the academic year. 2) It is helpful to name the plan with your intended major and year (for example, the name of the plan would be “General Studies – 2009”.

Academic Planner 1)Identify the term(s) you want to plan for by selecting them in the drop- down menu and checking it off. 2)Scan the worksheet on the left and look for any requirements that are marked as “Needed.” 3)Drag and drop or type in needed courses from the worksheet on the left to the term you plan to take the course on the right. 4)You may add pertinent notes in the notes field. 5)Click the “save plan” button.

1)Clicking on the green arrow next to your planned term will bring up the descriptions and schedule for all of the courses you have placed in that term. 2)Use this information to plan out your schedule. 3)You may plan out as many terms as you need, based on your desired amount of courses per semester. 4)Once your plan is saved, your advisor will be able to view and approve the plan. Academic Planner

1)Clicking on the process new button will take any planned terms you have checked and add them to your worksheet. 2)This feature makes it easy to see any courses you have not planned for, as planned courses will appear in blue on your worksheet and missing courses will appear in red.

Academic Planner 1)You may create and save more than one plan (perhaps for a double major or certificate), by clicking on “add a new plan” and load, but only one plan may be active at a time. 2)If you want to plan courses for a different major, you may click on the “Show What- if Options button” 3)Fill in the what-if fields, check off “Use What-if Scenario, and process a new audit to plan for a different program or certificate.
