CAASPP Alternative Assessments (as of now…) CAPA (Science: Grades 5, 8, & 10) CAA Field Test (ELA & MATH: Grades 3 – 8, & 11)

CAPA:  Science Only  Grades 5, 8, & 10  Paper/Pencil format (same as last year)  Examiner’s Manual & Manipulative lists can be found at  We will get results back.

CAA : California Alternate Assessment  Field Testing April 15 th – June 10 th  Grades 3 – 8, & 11  Smarter Balanced Platform  One-on-One Computer-Based Assessment  Not adaptive  ELA & Mathematics  15 questions each (total of 30)  minutes per area (can be done in smaller periods of time)  Multiple levels of complexity  Gather information about how the questions perform (not on how the students perform)  No student or school level data will be provided

CAA continued…  Test Accommodations  Accommodations noted in the student’s IEP or 504 that are regularly used for instruction and state testing may be used during the CAA field test.  These accommodations will be included through the TOMS registration system. (we pull the info from SEIS)  During the field test there WILL NOT be a paper-pencil version, a braille version, or support for text-to-speech

CAA continued…  Test Accommodations in SEIS  Addendums must be made to the current IEP  You need to affirm and attest the IEP  When completing the IEP…  For designated supports:  check the DS box  Indicate Embedded or Non Embedded or Both  Use the dropdown boxes to select the supports  For Accommodations:  Same as above, except check the Accommodations box Questions on using SEIS?
