Program Goal Increase access to and education for the proper and consistent use of child safety seats among low-income minority and/or outlaying/less populated areas in Maricopa County, thus reducing the number of childhood deaths and injuries due to motor vehicle crashes.
Objectives Increase by 70% the number of parents who report the consistent use of car seats as reports on the follow-up survey. Increase by 60% the number of parents who demonstrate the proper installation of the child car seats at those locations selected for parent education and/or car seat check-ups on the post-education observation survey.

Education Certified Car Seat Technician conducts training at the community site Shows a child passenger safety video Talk about 4 different stages for child occupant protection Question answer session
Seat Distributions A week post training, certified technicians return to same location at same time and individually coach parents on proper seat use and installation Only those who attend the training car eligible for seats
Evaluation Pre and post test during education session One month post- blind review of seat use at site if distribution Three month post- outside evaluation agency conducts a phone survey
