Tween Campaign Baseline Data Baseline data collection completed on attitudes and beliefs: Nearly 650 Youth (age 11-13) were interviewed in Malls through CA in English and Spanish Majority of answers reflected misconceptions and stereotypes 2/3 surveyed believed that “violent behavior is a form of serious mental illness” 58% surveyed believed “people with mental illness are required to take medication and get counseling for the rest of their lives” 80% surveyed believed that, “people with mental illness are more likely to act in ways you don’t expect”

In a pre-post evaluation, RAND found significant positive shifts occurred after the performance and knowledge about mental health drastically increased. 96% of teachers reported materials provided were useful. A survey revealed that a key strength of this tour appear to be in its ability to spark conversation about mental health in and out of the classroom.
