The word “Gothic” was used for “barbaric”, so it was a negative term. Gothic art ventured out of France during the mid 12 th Century, and was developed out of Romanesque art. Many French authors criticized Gothic art. Spread from France to Germany, Italy, England, the Low Countries, Spain, Portugal

It evolved from Romanesque art and lasted from the 12 th -16 th century. It evolved from Romanesque art and lasted from the 12 th -16 th century. Stain glass is a form of gothic art. MORE IN DEPTH… :D “Gothic” was derogatory until the late 19 th century. This is when Gothic architecture was revalued. Paris was where there was a lot of Gothic Art. Basilica at Saint-Denis built by Abbot Suger the first major building. Gothic art isn’t shown much in the modern day, but we still use arches, stained glass, et cetera.

GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE Architecture was very important and original during the Gothic period. In Gothic architecture, you will find: ribbed vaults piers pointed arches thinner walls large windows buttresses The Taj-Mahal is a good example of the pointed arch. Ribbed vaults. An architectural structure built against or projecting from a wall which serves to support or reinforce the wall.

MORE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE Spread from France to: Germany, Italy, England, the Low Countries, Spain, Portugal English gothic buildings had thicker, heavier walls than the French, repeated moldings on interior arches; sparing use of tall slender pointed windows, The buildings where taller than earlier ones, and they became more complex. There was three phases: Early, high and late. The Early phase lasted for about eighty years. High phase: about fifty years. Late phase: Fifteenth century.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at my school's canned food sculpture contest. All of the other clubs built Christmas trees or presents made of cans; but one club built Harry Potter. The theme was believe in the magic of giving. I think they'll win. MLIA. Today on my way to work I noticed the "low fuel" warning on the dashboard. I pulled over and got some gas. MLIA Today I really wanted some Pop Tarts. I went to the store to get some, but they were out of Raspberry, my favourite kind. I bought Strawberry instead, because Strawberry is almost as good as Raspberry. MLIA Today I sat in the kitchen eating my left-over sandwich alone. It only took me 15 mins to eat, so I went to Walgreens to buy chocolate for the rest of the 45 minutes. I bought People to find out how Kristie Alley got fat again. MLIA Today I was driving behind a car that had a bumper sticker which said "What Would Hermione Do?" After 5 minutes I realized Hermione probably wouldn't stalk the car taking haphazard pictures of the sticker with her cellphone. So I stopped. MLIM Success.
