1 MEMB113: ENGINEERING GRAPHICS & CAE 11 AUXILLIARY VIEW

MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View Object may be irregular face - inclined to the normal planes of projection True shape can be obtained by projection to an auxiliary plane parallel to the face The view is know as auxiliary view Examples of objects requiring auxiliary views:

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View Auxiliary view must be projected from principal view which provides the edge view of the inclined irregular face

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View Measurements of length are projected from the edge view of the inclined irregular face Measurements of width are transferred from other principal view, normally measured from reference plane (RP) Auxiliary views should always be drawn in 3 rd angle projection

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View Common auxiliary view View obtained by looking perpendicularly at the inclined face and projecting the true shape on auxiliary plane Removed view, where the view is moved from its normal position without changing orientation - for convenience, clarity, dimensioning purposes, etc. The word 'view' and direction 'A' (e.g) should be used. If the removed view need to be orientated, the number of degrees and its direction must be stated

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View

11 AUXILLIARY VIEW MEMB113 | Dept. of Mechanical Engineering | UNITEN | Auxiliary View Producing auxiliary view Draw front view, and side view Draw reference line/plane (RP), any position. Project length from front view Complete the widths, arc, circles etc.
