PREVIEW Focus on the Main Idea: The regions of the United and the nations of the world depend on each other. Vocabulary: Transportation, Interdependent, Globalization, Communication.

CLOSE YOUR EYES…

PAGE 81… Transportation helps the Interdependent regions get the resources they need and want. Interdependent is when regions of the United States rely on one another for goods, services, and resources.

PAGE 82… Globalization of businesses means that goods are produced using resources, raw materials, and services from several countries. Example: The parts of a cellphone are made all around the world.

PAGE 84… Communication is the way that people send and receive information. Fast communication helps local, national, and world trade.

Summarize the Lesson Because no region can produce everything it needs, all the regions of the United States are economically interdependent. The globalization of businesses means that goods are produced using resources, raw materials, and services from several countries. Fast transportation and communication have made local and world trade easier.
