Impact Increasing trend of rice production. Farmers taking up rice cultivation more extensively with HYV /Hybrid seeds, with appropriate technology . Extensive use of Line sowing , helping increasing productivity by incorporating better intercultural operation STW/LLP under “ Assets building” created 4500 hac additional irrigated area paving way for double cropping in those area wit winter rice . Under “Site specific” - Covered threshing floors mitigating the problem of threshing of Summer paddy helped directly 68 nos GPs , 140 WHS creating 1400 hac of irrigation potential area in villages where boring of STW are not feasible

Strategy for interventions Implementation of Rice demo. and interventions under “Site Specific “is done though involving PPS (Field Management Committee of farmers). Organisng farmers, Inputs handling, close monitoring of these programs are through PPS under the supervision of VLEW/ADO at field level. Farm Level Storage units are being established in 47 selected Rice demo area under the technical guidance of SAU with the involvement of community .Community of the concerned demo plot (250 hac) will be custodian of the unit.

EFFORTS IN INCREASING PROCUREMENT AND STORAGE , ESPECIALLY IN VIEW OF THE INCREASING RICE PRODUCTION IN EASTERN INDIA

Procurement was done through FCI and ASAMB Procurement was done through FCI and ASAMB. Last year state initiatives on rice procurement through ASAMB ensured in remunerative price of paddy for farmers The process is to be continued if price goes below MSP . At present local market price of Paddy is well above MSP. For storage 47 nos. farm level storage unit is under process of establishment in 2013-14.
