Our sins rob us of peace! Inner peace cannot coexist with guilt.

If we had not sinned, we would have had “peace like a river” “Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river…” -- Isaiah 48:18

But the wicked are like the troubled sea, When it cannot rest, Whose waters cast up mire and dirt. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” -- Isaiah 57:20-21

Refusing to acknowledge our sins will not make things better “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” -- Proverbs 28:13

Peace returns only when our sins are confessed and forsaken. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” -- 1 John 1:9

I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. -- Psalm 32:5

Like a cool, cleansing rain shower, God's forgiveness washes away not only our sins, but also their tormenting guilt.
