My Animal: Moose by: a grade two student

Moose belong in the Mammals Group

Appearance Moose are large animals. They are brown. Their bodies are covered with fur. Their long, slender legs are very strong. They have long thick necks.

Food and Eating Moose eat plants. The food they like to eat best is tree bark. They have noses that help them find their food.

Habitat Moose live in the forest. The reason they live there is because they need lots of room to run from danger.

Babies/Young Moose have live babies. The baby grows inside the mother for 7 to 8 months. The adults take care of the young until they are 1.5 to 2 years old. Baby moose look like small deer.

Other Information Moose are animals that chew and swallow their food more than once. After a little while the food comes back to the mouth from the stomach. Then they chew and swallow again.
