Impact of World Hunger 2. In 2009 number of undernourished increased to 1.02 billion. 3. Hunger and Malnutrition #1 risk to health worldwide killing 25-30,000 daily. 1. In billion people live below the international poverty line of $1.25/day. 4. Children comprise 16,000 of that number- one child dies every 5 seconds. 5.Hunger results in stunted growth, limited productivity, hindered fetal development and contributes to mental retardation. 7. In million children died before their 5 th birthday. 6. More than 20 million low-birth weight babies are born each year.
