Read one book during the school year Take an online Quia quiz if the book is an award nomineeQuia Add a book review to district website if the book is not an award nominee All types of books are eligible: – Any non-fiction book Graphic novels Biographies – Any fiction book

The Design of the Games 12 Districts are created Students draw randomly (I used dominoes) to become part of a district. Districts are displayed on bulletin board

The Design of the Games A website is designed for each district using Google sites Google sites Websites house book reviews created by students Three templates are created for student use: – Nonfiction book review – Biography book review – Fiction book review

The Design of the Games Read books: win advantages for your district during the physical games A “reaping” countdown calendar is added to each of the 12 websites. (Dec 13 th is the day) Two students are chosen from each district to play the physical games (24 students total)

The Physical Games The physical games are held indoors & outdoors, January – April during late bus Wednesdays for 1 hour. Start with 24 competitors. Two competitors eliminated during each game Last man/woman standing at the final competition will win prizes for the entire district.

Extras idea adapted from Robin Lewis SVMS Library Media Specialist Color code your districts Issue a color coded ID card – Gives a sense of Identity – Used to win small prizes throughout the year – Give only to those in the district who have completed at least 1 book review/quiz.
