Students need to request final amateurism certification prior to enrollment.

- TRAIN AND PREPARE YOURSELF – MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR OPPORTUNITY - WHEN LOOKING FOR SUMMER CAMPS, YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT IT IS A TRY OUT. - LIMIT THE CAMPS YOU ATTEND, BUT LOOK TO MAXIMIZE YOUR EXPOSURE (LAURENS 1ST AND GOAL CAMP – LAFAYETTE JUNE 2) - “YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION ”

- WHEN CREATING A HIGHLIGHT VIDEO, YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THAT IT IS DESIGNED TO MAKE COACHES WANT TO SEE MORE PLAYS – DON’T MAKE THEM TOO LONG - COACHES WILL WANT TO SEE GAME FILM - YOU CAN HAVE A BAD PLAY NOT A BAD GAME (BE CONSISTENT)

COACHES WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH YOU VIA FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND PHONE. MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF YOUR MESSAGES ARE APPROPRIATE, ONCE YOU SEND IT, IT IS OUT THERE ASK YOURSELF THIS ABOUT ANYTHING YOU POST ANYWHERE: “WOULD I WANT A COLLEGE RECRUITER TO SEE OR HEAR THIS?”

CONTACT PERIOD- TIME WHEN IT IS PERMITTED FOR COACHES TO MAKE IN PERSON, OFF CAMPUS RECRUITING CONTACTS AND EVALUATIONS EVALUATION PERIOD- COACHES ALLOWED TO BE INVOLVED IN OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO ASSESS ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND PLAYING ABILITIES. NO IN-PERSON CONTACT WITH THE RECRUITS DURING THIS PERIOD. QUIET PERIOD- COACHES ONLY ALLOWED TO MAKE IN PERSON CONTACT AT THE COLLEGE CAMPUS. NO OFF-CAMPUS CONTACT PERMITTED. DEAD PERIOD- NO CONTACT PERMITTED. HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ARE ALLOWED TO CALL COLLEGE COACHES AT THIS TIME

- THESE TIMES CHANGE FROM YEAR TO YEAR. - THEY ARE LISTED ON THE ELIGIBILITY CENTER WEB-SITE OR YOU CAN SEE YOUR COACH. - THERE IS LEGISLATION PENDING THAT WOULD ALLOW CONTACT VIA SICIAL NETWORK YEAR ROUND

REDSHIRTING - YOU MAY PRACTICE WITH THE TEAM AND TRAVEL WITH THE TEAM BUT DO NOT LOSE A YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY KNOW THAT OFTEN TIMES A SCHOLARSHIP IS A YEAR TO YEAR AGREEMENT. YOU MAY NOT BE INVITED BACK FOR YOUR FIFTH YEAR IF YOU ARE INJURED AFTER “REDSHIRTING A YEAR”, YOU MAY APPLY TO THE NCAA FOR A “MEDICAL HARDSHIP” FOR AN ADDITIONAL YEAR. GREYSHIRTING - STUDENT ATHLETE TAKES LESS THAN 12 CREDIT HOURS THE FIRST (FALL) SEMESTER AND ESSENTIALLY DELAYS HIS ENROLLMENT TIL THE NEXT YEAR. HAS NO CONTACT OR PRACTICE TIME WITH TEAM UNTIL SECOND SEMESTER.

WALKING ON IS ALWAYS AN OPTION IF YOU DECIDE!! MANY SCHOOLS SAVE SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARD THEM TO WALK-ONS WHO HAVE EARNED THEM AFTER SPING PRACTICE

1. RECRUITING CAN BE A STRESSFUL TIME. REMEMBER THAT IT IS A REWARD FOR YOUR HARD WORK 2. ULTIMATELY IT IS THE COLLEGE’S DECISION WHO THEY RECRUIT- ACCEPT THAT YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER IT 3. REMEMBER THAT ACADEMICS IS ALWAYS THE FIRST FACTOR CONSIDERED. 4. IT IS YOUR DECISION
