Giving Heart’s Mission: It is our mission to help Bantay Bata (Children’s Watch), through donating old and new clothes for the children. It is also our mission to raise funds for the program.
Bantay Bata is a child welfare program of ABS- CBN Foundation. The program is based in the Philippines that rescues and rehabilitates sick and abused children. The program operates the Children’s Crisis Center in the Philippines, which provide temporary shelter to rescued children. The program provides shelter, therapy and quality home care until the children can be reunited with their families or referred to proper child-care agencies.

We used our work breaks and lunches to talk about our project, which we schedule in advance before we meet.

ABC Fundraising® provides a packages to help those who are up for fundraising. We received the booklets on the 3 rd week of May. How it works: 1)Donor scratches 2 or more circles. 2)Donate the uncovered amount (amount ranges from $0.50 to $3.00). 3) In exchange in helping our fundraising, donor will receives 1 page of valuable coupons. *** Each booklet can have up to $100 in donations! So, far we have raised $50!
This concept was fun, we even tried it for ourselves! Our first Scratch & Help donor!
GoFundMe is a website that was recommended by one of our co- workers. The website serves as an awareness tool about the Giving Heart program, as well as a secure website that people can make a donation. So far, we have reached about 23%of our goal and plan to continue on until end of the summer The link to this page had and will be sent out to various s and posted every week through various social media outlet, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. (
With the help of our family and friends, we collected and filled 2 Balikbayan boxes with old and new clothes and raised funding through our Scratch & Help and GoFundMe. It may not be a lot but we know in our hearts that we will make some of the children happy with our effort. Within our small group, we achieved our goals to help the foundation in some way. We learned to be creative and aimed high. Our battle does not stop here, we will still continue until Summer of 2012.
Kathy Jo MichelleIrene Bonnie Our last group meeting with our kids!
Reflections: Irene- “The class is an eye opener for almost all of us. To reach out to people and asking for help is not an easy tasks. But if you apply on what you learned in class is a big A+… No regrets on signing up for this class now. I can’t for the final outcome this Summer as we will continue our battle.” Bonnie- “I didn’t think this is so much fun! I can’t wait for our yard sale!” Michelle- “I didn’t realize that its not easy to do a fundraising. I only see this with my kids when they come home from school, and have a brochure with them. I always complain why do we have to this… etc.! But I didn’t realize how hard the people put their time and effort behind this fundraising. Next time no complaining!”
Jo- “I have fun doing this project. I felt like I’m one the student. Irene lend us the book sometimes. For me, is a superb material.” Kathy- “Asking for used clothes was one of my task. I’m so glad I said yes to join Irene’s group. I’m so happy that I can help other in my own little way. Reflections:
