ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce Silver State Works (SSW) 2  Introduced in 2011  Expenditures to date = $4,100,760 for 3,764 participants  Hiring incentives for employers / Opportunity for job seekers  Eligible Participants: UI Claimants, Veterans, VR Clients, TANF Clients  Three ways employers can participate: Employer Based Training – up to $600 - workers collecting UI benefits, continue to receive benefits and get six weeks of OJT. Employer Incentive Job Program – up to 50% wage subsidy to employers who agree to train and pay participating workers. Incentive Based Employment – up to $2,000 – Wage retention supplement paid to employers to hire and retain eligible full time workers Additional Information:

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & Economic Development 3  Silver State Works  The Silver State Works program is actively used by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) as a tool for economic development in their efforts to attract prospective businesses to Nevada.  Train Employees Now (TEN) – $633,000  Short-Term, Skills-based intensive job training operated by GOED to assist new businesses and expanding firms Additional Information :

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & Economic Development 4  Emerging Small Businesses - $100,000  Administrative Funding for Certified Emerging Small Business Program which assists small businesses obtain contracts with state and local government agencies. Additional Information:  IBM Center for Excellence $152,449/yr. 6 yr. lease  Nevada’s Water Center of Excellence – water resource management and big data analytics services. Additional Information : center-of-excellence center-of-excellence

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & Higher Ed 5  Workforce Development Centers – CEP provides dedicated staff members that are housed at community colleges to work with the schools’ workforce training staff.  NSHE Future of Nursing Grant – CEP provides a matching grant of $75,000 per year for two years to fund one full-time and one part-time staff, and operational and program costs for the deployment of the grant objectives which are to promote the advancement of nursing education in Nevada.

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & K-12 Education 6  Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) - JAG specialists help at-risk high school students graduate – post secondary, vocational, work  Started in 2012 in Washoe, Douglas, Lyon, Clark  Community Services Agency $1,308, to 2014  Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates $750, to 2015 Additional Information: and  WCSD/TMCC Student Success Specialists – provides $165,000 per year for two years to pay for specialists that assist credit- deficient Washoe County high school students to graduate, move on to TMCC and assist with obtaining internships.

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & Sector Councils 7  Aerospace & Defense - $70,000 Machinist Training Program - 20 Students  Agriculture - $40,000 UNR – 10 Students  Agriculture - $22,500 – The Rapid Response Training - 15 Students  Clean Energy - $18,000 - LEED Green Associates Program - 20 Students  Health Care - $88,000 Community Health Workers – 40 Students  Logistics & Operations - $36,500 CDL Drivers– 10 Students  Manufacturing - $45,500 ACT Testing students  Mining - $308,454 over three years. GBC Professors for an Electrical & Instrumentation skills course  Information Technology - $45,000 – covers licensing and MOS/MTA testing certificates for high school students and teacher training. 7

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & Department of Corrections 9  Prisoner Re-entry - $510,000 per year  Job readiness training and job placement services for parolees and ex-offenders

ONE NEVĂDA – Growing a Skilled, Diverse Workforce CEP & ESD 10  Re-employment Eligibility Assessment & Re-employment Service Program - $600,000 per year  Nationally recognized  Federal re-employment eligibility assessment program  Random selection of UI Claimants  After one week of receiving benefits  Mandatory in-person review of benefit eligibility  CEP Reemployment Service Program  Individual Employment Plan  Job Search Referral & Resume assistance  Short-term skills development training  ROI: for every $1 spent, $4 saved in the UI Trust Fund  20% more likely than non-participants to be reemployed sooner  Earn more wages in the quarter after returning to work
