Early Life Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955 He grew up in Seattle, Washington with one older sister (Kristi) and one younger sister (Libby). Gates grew up being the smart kid, he even got excused from his math classes in 8th grade to pursue his love for computers and created his first program allowing people to play games against the computer.

Starting Microsoft Bill Gates left the school of Harvard taking a risk to work with Paul Allen at MITS in Albuquerque in November of 1975. The partnership created was named “Micro-Soft”. Microsoft became its own company separated from MITS in 1976 where it continued producing language software.

Windows Microsoft released Microsoft Windows operating system on November 20, 1985. Since then it has become one of the best and fastest developing operating systems to ever hit the market. The most recent new software is Windows 8. This included a whole new interface with interactive tiles for easy access to applications.

Personal Life Gates married his wife Melinda on January 1, 1994. They have two daughters Jennifer Katherine (b.1996) and Phoebe Adele (b.2002) and one son Rory John (b.1999) Bill Gates was named number one on the Forbes list of the world’s richest people from 1995-2007 and also in 2009. At one point his wealth reached $101 billion, as of 2013 he is once again known as the richest man alive.

Bill Gates’ House Bill Gates’ house is located in Medina, Washington overlooking Lake Washington. This 66,000 square foot mansion took 7 years to build and cost a whopping $63 million. The estate contains a 60 foot long swimming pool with an underwater music system, a 2,300 square foot reception hall that seats 150 people for dinner, 24 bathrooms including 10 baths, a 23 car garage and much more. Any guest at the Gates’ residence receives a pin to wear that adjusts the temperature, music, and lighting according to the person’s preference.
