Harvard Catalyst Imaging Consortium Education Program
Mission Statement Catalyst Imaging Consortium will provide lectures, tutorials, and educational materials to promote the use of imaging in translational research across the Harvard Catalyst institutions Will interface with imaging consultation service to develop library of reusable lectures and reach broader audience Educational program will be disseminated throughout national networks including other CTSAs, IRATs, RSNA, ACRIN, ASCO, ASTRO
Target Audience Junior investigators pursuing an academic/research career –Disease programs/clinical departments –Basic science labs/academic departments –Radiology/imaging departments Research Facilitators –Catalyst navigators –Clinical research coordinators and nurses –OHRS/IRB staff
Discipline-based initiatives Oncology (utilize existing DF/HCC multi- institutional IRB) Neuroscience Cardiology Pediatrics Others
Generic Imaging Modules Basic principles of imaging (acquisition, reconstruction, post-processing, visualization, analysis) Imaging Modalities (X-ray, CT, MRI, PET/CT, US, optical) Properties measured (electon/proton density, perfusion, glucose metabolism) Quantitative methods (response assessment) Clinical trial design with imaging endpoints Imaging risks and informed consent forms –Ionizing radiation –Contrast agents (gadolinium, iodine, microbubbles) –Claustrophobia –MRI magnet safety
