ACU Strategic Plan Student Experience Research and Knowledge Transfer Catholic Identity and Mission Service Delivery and Enablers

School Strategic Plan Our school will focus on teaching, learning, research and service in arts, humanities and social sciences. We focus on these as they contribute to the common good and give the Australian Catholic University a distinctive place in Australian higher education. We are committed to finding ways to express our Catholic mission and identity through our creative arts teaching, research and community engagement.

Alasdair Macintosh

Develop “Community Arts partnerships” and engagement through our distinctive Catholic identity in teaching, research and community engagement: Our school’s teaching, research and community partnerships have a distinctive focus. Our focus contrasts with Griffith University(arts practice), University of Queensland (fine arts/theory), Queensland University of Technology (creative industries) approaches. Our “Community Arts partnerships approach” seeks to allow specialisation as well as integration in the disciplines of Music, Drama and Visual Arts as they intersect with human services. Our focus of life long learning in Arts works within partnerships with churches, hospitals, choirs and theatre in social contexts developed with Catholic Hospitals, Catalyst, Conservatorium of Music, Queensland Art Gallery, schools and various community arts collaborators.

Visual arts Exhibitions (10 per year) Art partnerships (Qld Art Gallery, Prison Fellowship, refugee arts, art and theology…) Research (Art in community contexts) Honours, MPhil and PhD. Art in education (schools and community arts)

7500 children participated in the project with 5000 tiles throughout the hospital.
