Growing vegetables for Downend School By indie

We are planning to host a fundraiser to recreate the sadly damaged allotment. The money that we will hopefully raise will help to rebuild the allotment and get it going again. A group of people broke into the school over the Christmas holidays and destroyed the allotment.

There were lots of different kinds of potatoes but we couldn’t grow much else because it was Winter. We will grow more vegetables in the Summer if we can get it fixed and running again in time, including corn, runner beans, carrots, cucumbers, spring onions, chilli, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, lettuce and maybe apples.

We have interviewed Tim the technician, who looks after the allotment. We asked how he felt about the allotment when it was destroyed : I felt angry and gutted that all the hard work was destroyed. How much money will it cost to rebuild ? : about £800 all together. How did you get involved in the allotment ? : I am interested in growing things and I have my own allotment. Who started the allotment ? : Miss Taylor started it in 2006.
