Education Theorist techniques Lev Vygotsky  In this presentation, I will be posing as the educational theorist Lev Vygotsky.  I will use his techniques to correlate it to dance education.  The three theories used are:  Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD)  More Knowledgeable Other (MKO)  Sociocultural Theory

Zone of Proximal Development  The idea that skills are too difficult for a student to master on their own, so they receive guidance and encouragement from a more knowledgeable other.

Zone of Proximal Development

More Knowledgeable Other  Someone who has a better understanding or higher quality of learning than the learner.

Sociocultural Theory  The important contributions that society makes to individual development.  A child cannot separate their learning from their environment.  Parents, caregivers, peers and the culture at large were responsible for the development of higher order functions in students.

Professional Activities  The purpose of this video is to encourage dance educators to continue being a positive example of a More Knowledgeable Other and to inform them of their roles in students learning.
