Water supply system of Poznan & Central Wastewater Treatment Plant

Renewable Energy Sources

Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope ) Use of renewable energy from biogas at facilities operated by Aquanet: Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Koziegłowy and Left-Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant in Poznań.

Biogas - biofuel Sludge generated as a result of wastewater treatment processes is transported to six separate digesters and subjected to anaerobic digestion. The anaerobic digestion processyields biogas. The net calorific value of biogas amounts to 21.6 MJ/m3 Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope ) In August ca kW. Annual MW (electricity) MW (heat)

Environmental and economic effect. Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope )

The environmental effect - generation of electricity from biogas considered to be biofuel (utilisation of 100 % biogas generated during the digestion process) - elimination of emissions of CH4 (methane ) and CO2 (protection of the atmosphere and reduction of the „greenhouse effect”) Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope )

The economic effect - covering 40% of the demand for electricity (reduced purchase of electricity from the municipal power supplier) - possibility of selling ‘green power’ in the market - obtaining additional reject heat which is used for process purposes and for the heating of the treatment plant buildings and facilities. Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope )

Tkank you for your attention Biogas – biofuel (Aquanet for CarboEurope )
