F I V E Kinds of Followers

Those who wholly follow Joshua and Caleb “wholly followed the Lord” when others refused to believe and enter the promised land.(Numbers 32:9-14) In Joshua 14:8, Caleb said, “I wholly followed the Lord my God.”

Those who follow immediately “They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” Matthew 4:20

Those who follow wherever Jesus goes “I will follow wherever you go.” -- Matthew 8:19

Those who follow at a Distance Due to the fear of what others may think, some do not want to be closely associated with Christ. “Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest's courtyard.” Matthew 26:58

Those who must do something else first Followers of Christ must sort their priorities correctly (Luke 9:59-62). “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

As we prepare our hearts for worship this morning, let each follower of Christ consider what kind of follower he desires to be. Who will follow Jesus? Who will make reply? “I am on the Lord’s side! Master here am I.”
