4. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES Deferment of Studies Must submit notification in writing to the Regional Office with documentary evidence (using form R-DS). The approved deferment period will lapse on the next offering of the same course(s). ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

5. ASSESSMENT The assessment for any course consists of two (2) components: Overall assessment (100 %) = weighted total of both components. To pass a course, a student must pass both components, except for MPW courses where the passing grade is based on the overall assessment score. Component Undergraduate Postgraduate Continuous Assessment 50 % 40 % Final Examination 60 % Note: The above does not apply to the CEMBA/PA Project Course. The CEMBA/PA Project Course is assessed based on the Final Project Report which carries 100% weightage. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

5. ASSESSMENT Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) Late Submission of TMAs Penalty Late submission of TMAs without prior approvals: 30% penalty of the marks awarded. The Course Coordinator reserves the right to reject the assignment in which case a zero score shall be given for the TMA. Students are therefore reminded to seek prior approvals should they need to seek for extension of TMA submission dates. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,IP,KL,JB,KC

ASSESSMENT Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) Late Submission of TMAs (2) Exceptions New students are given one semester (only for first semester) grace period and shall be exempted from the 30% penalty ruling. ASSESSMENT Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) Extension of TMA Submission Deadlines Must apply for approval ONLINE No extension for the last TMA i.e..: TMA 3 for Graduate Diploma and Undergraduate programmes TMA 2 for Postgraduate programmes If approved, TMA will be accepted for marking (marks will count). 5. ASSESSMENT Examinations Examination Misconduct What is examination misconduct? Bringing unauthorized materials into the exam venue. Communicating with other students during the exam through any means. Copying/cheating in an exam. ASSESSMENT Examinations Eligibility to Re-sit / Supplementary Examination A student who has failed the exam can re-sit provided: Passed continuous assessment component Achieved an acceptable level in the exam i.e. “FR” (fail-re-sit) grade How often? 5. ASSESSMENT Examinations Repeating a Course Those who failed OR passed but wished to improve the overall grades. The best grade achieved will be used in the computation of the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). There is no limit to the number of times a student can repeat a course. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS GRADUATE DIPLOMA & UNDERGRADUATE To be eligible for the award of Graduate Diploma / Undergraduate degree, you must: a) Meet the requirements of the chosen programme. b) Achieve a CGPA of 2.00 and above. c) Obtain at least 70 credits (for Graduate Diploma) or 120 credits (for Undergraduate Degree). d) Achieve a minimum grade C (2.00) for MPW courses.
