Cities for the Levites Cities of Refuge - Instuctions (cont.): – If he leaves early and is killed by ‘avenger of blood’, the avenger is innocent – A murderer shall be executed upon the testimony of more than one witness – No fine can be exchanged for the life of a murderer or for the release of one confined to a city of refuge

Cities for the Levites Cities of Refuge (cont.): – Blood pollutes a land, thus no atonement for the blood shed on it but by the blood of him who shed it – Do not defile the land, for I the Lord dwell among you
