 If you answered YES to any of those questions, you have started creating your Digital Footprint.  Just like a real footprint, a digital footprint is a trail of everything you’ve done, seen, posted, or downloaded from the Internet.

 The Digital Footprint Video The Digital Footprint Video  As you watch the video, pay attention to the images they use…we’ll discuss these after the video

 Why did the makers of the video use these images?  Football Stadium  Fingerprint  Copies & Whispering in the Ear  Just like a fingerprint, everyone leaves a different mark online that can be traced  The Internet is like the stadium…huge, public, with lots of people watching  Information on the internet can be forwarded to many others, sometimes after being altered  Permanent Marker  Even if you try to delete things online, it’s never really gone because people have already seen it and passed it along

 Design your own digital footprint! Fill in the footprint with images, Web hits, and types of information that you would want to see linked to your name in 10 years. Examples: “a social networking profile on Facebook; a YouTube video of me performing with my rock band; an online newspaper article about my work to help the homeless.” Be creative!
