Presentation transcript:

The Journal of Patrick Seamus Flaherty Presentation by Evan, Connor, Brenden, and Beau. Book by Ellen White.

Place and Time TThe main settings are Khe Sanh, Vietnam and Hill 881S IIt took place December 25, 1967 to April 22, 1968

Main Characters  Patrick: his physical attributions are he likes playing football. His emotional attributions are he is brave because he gave up three football scholarships to go to Vietnam.  The rest of the main characters are Shadow, Fox, Mooch, Smedly, Rotgut, Apollo, Hollywood, Professor, Bebop, and Skipper.

Historical Events  Troops went to hill 881N to destroy part of the NVA (North Vietnamese Army).  Many troops died at hill 881N.  Ho Chi Minh started the Vietnam war.

Cause and Effect  Cause  Troops from the NVA were near hill 881N.  Hollywood hit a mortar shell.  Patrick draws a picture.  Effect  Patrick’s company went to destroy them.  It blew up on him and he died.  He got the nickname Mighty Mouse

Connor’s response I really liked it but it was more violent than I thought. But it was sad when one of my favorite characters died. It was Hollywood he was digging trenches with squad. He hit a mortar shell with his shovel and he blew up. Then at the end Patrick got severely injured by a missile and Bebop got killed. 

Evan’s Response The book was more epic than I thought it would be. Almost every place they stayed in either blew up or fell down. It would be hard to fight in a war with the fear that you would be bombed. Even though war is bad they need to be fought.   

Brenden’s response I like the book because they gave up a lot of lives. Now I understand the veterans that have died for America. Now I understand what my grandpa did for America. 

Beau’s response I really like this book because it has a lot of action. It is sad because people die.
