On-line Resources Red Clay Secondary Science wiki:

The Red Clay science wiki provides resources for science teachers in alignment with the Delaware Science Standards and the Coalition kits. It also provides: Lists of teachers at each grade level and content area. Safety resources (including the safety contract) Curriculum Council news Websites Teachers who join can upload resources to share. This wiki can be accessed

Delware Science Coalition wiki: This “wiki” provides useful resources for the science units through the Coalition, including student guides and teacher guides for selected units. This wiki can only be accessed from a Delaware public school (not ).

Professional Development and Kits Middle School: Science kit trainings will be held after school (4:00-7:00) at various locations in Red Clay or Colonial School District. Teachers must complete training to receive a kit. Teachers will receive EPER for all hours trained.

Registration for kit training (middle school) Contact Eddie McGrath by that you want to attend the training. Do not register through DSC. At the end of the training, I will you specific instructions for EPER.

Kit Delivery/Pick-up Schedule: Kits will be delivered three times during the school year: First delivery: August 28, 2012 First pick-up: December 12, 2012 Second delivery: December 19, 2012 Second pick-up: March 12, 2013 Third delivery: March 19, 2013 Third (FINAL) pick-up: June 10, 2013.

High School unit trainings: Trainings are held at Collette Center in Dover DE. Trainings last four days for six hours each. Teachers are expected to attend all four days for the entire time.

Procedure for registration (high school only): 1. Eddie that you want to be registered for a training session. I will reserve a place in the class. Do not register through DSC. 2. You will receive confirmation from me, with a copy to your principal indicating the dates of training. 3. Complete a Professional Absence Request for each day of training, indicating the dates you will be absent from school. When I send you confirmation (by ), I will give you specific details (funding program, comments) to enter.

High school Materials: Because materials were delivered to all high schools over the years, and because individual schools may have different needs, high schools will order materials for the units according to their own needs. Materials lists for all the Coalition units are availabe. Contact Eddie McGrath for details.

Science Curriculum Council Meets second Tuesday of each month (first meeting is Sept 11) in Conrad library from 4:00-6:00. All elementary and secondary schools are represented. Meetings are public—any teachers may come. Proposal for new business is on district intranet

And finally… Eddie McGrath is a resource for science teachers. I will work with teachers in the classroom, model teaching practices, assist with providing materials (as possible), and assist teachers with Vernier probe technology. I am available to meet with teachers at their convenience. Feel free to call my cell phone or me if there is any way I can help.
