SIX WAYS TO ACCORDING TO THE BOOK OF HEBREWS

At the very root of freedom is a quest within man to become better. It must have been somewhat instinctive with Jesus as well in that He “grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man” (Lk. 2:52)

Hebrews Makes Use Of The Term “Better” 12 Times In The Letter. It Denotes The Superior Nature Of The Christian Faith. Another Key Expression Found In This Letter Is “Let Us,” As An Admonishment To Participate In Betterment.

We will examine six things better for the Christian in our lesson today: We will examine six things better for the Christian in our lesson today: An attempt will be made to make a correlation between the Spiritual and physical betterment. An attempt will be made to make a correlation between the Spiritual and physical betterment.

Note some of the “better” things available to the Christian: Christ is better than angels (1:4) Christ is better than angels (1:4) Christians act in a better way (6:9) Christians act in a better way (6:9) Christians have a better hope (7:19) Christians have a better hope (7:19) Christians have a better covenant (7:22) Christians have a better covenant (7:22) Christians have better promises (8:6) Christians have better promises (8:6) Christians have a better sacrifice (9:23) Christians have a better sacrifice (9:23) Christians have a better possession (10:34) Christians have a better possession (10:34) Christians have a better country (11:16) Christians have a better country (11:16) Christians have a better resurrection Christians have a better resurrection (11:35) (11:35) Christ has provided something better for us Christ has provided something better for us (11:40) (11:40) Note some of the “better” things available to the Christian: Christ is better than angels (1:4) Christ is better than angels (1:4) Christians act in a better way (6:9) Christians act in a better way (6:9) Christians have a better hope (7:19) Christians have a better hope (7:19) Christians have a better covenant (7:22) Christians have a better covenant (7:22) Christians have better promises (8:6) Christians have better promises (8:6) Christians have a better sacrifice (9:23) Christians have a better sacrifice (9:23) Christians have a better possession (10:34) Christians have a better possession (10:34) Christians have a better country (11:16) Christians have a better country (11:16) Christians have a better resurrection Christians have a better resurrection (11:35) (11:35) Christ has provided something better for us Christ has provided something better for us (11:40) (11:40)

I. A Better Priesthood/Leader The Aaronic priesthood was limited by life-span and infirmities (8:23). The Aaronic priesthood was limited by life-span and infirmities (8:23). Imperfect men serving imperfect men (8:11). Imperfect men serving imperfect men (8:11). Made after the law of carnal command- ment (7:16). Made after the law of carnal command- ment (7:16).

Our country has tried to be better from time of our her first President. Our country has tried to be better from time of our her first President. A battle has been waged to obtain and maintain our freedom. A battle has been waged to obtain and maintain our freedom.

Jesus is the epitome of leadership and a priest (7:26). He manifested the power of an endless life (7:16). Since He is eternal, there will be no change in His priesthood (7:24). Jesus promised to build His church and even death could not stop it (Mt. 16:18). Jesus promised to build His church and even death could not stop it (Mt. 16:18).

II. A Better Covenant The covenant with Israel by Moses was faulty (8:7). The covenant with Israel by Moses was faulty (8:7). The law had to change with a new priest (7:12). The law had to change with a new priest (7:12). This covenant was weak and unprofitable (7:18). This covenant was weak and unprofitable (7:18).

The Declaration of Independence provides freedom, but has been updated and changed many times. Written by men with limited vision. Written by men with limited vision. Subject to not being relevant or apply to the needs of society. Subject to not being relevant or apply to the needs of society.

The Gospel is our freedom. The Gospel is our freedom. Promised by Jeremiah (31:31). Promised by Jeremiah (31:31). “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people” (8:10). “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people” (8:10).

III. A Better Sacrifice The blood of animals could not forgive (9:12-13). The blood of animals could not forgive (9:12-13). The sacrifice had to be made over and over (9:7). The sacrifice had to be made over and over (9:7). These could not affect the conscience (9:9). These could not affect the conscience (9:9).

Many have fallen and shed blood for our freedom, but peace is temporary. Many have fallen and shed blood for our freedom, but peace is temporary. When things are made better, evil influences reverses our progress.

Jesus is the supreme sacrifice to set men free from sin. He was an offering that was without spot (9:14). Only one offering need- ed, not to atone for, but to forgive sins (9:26). Eternal results (9:12).

IV. A Better Remembrance The Children of Israel had signs and reminders of God’s physical deliverance from bondage (Ex. 12:7). The Children of Israel had signs and reminders of God’s physical deliverance from bondage (Ex. 12:7). They were reminded every year by having a Passover. They kept it out of fear (11:27). They were reminded every year by having a Passover. They kept it out of fear (11:27).

We remember our deliverance and freedom by entertainment and self-satisfying indulgences with little remembrance of what the Fourth of July actually means. We remember our deliverance and freedom by entertainment and self-satisfying indulgences with little remembrance of what the Fourth of July actually means.

Each Lord’s Day, we have the grand privilege to call to remembrance the body that was broken and blood that was shed. Each Lord’s Day, we have the grand privilege to call to remembrance the body that was broken and blood that was shed. We show the Lord’s death till He comes (I Cor. 11:26). We show the Lord’s death till He comes (I Cor. 11:26). This supper represents the “blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Mt. 22:28). This supper represents the “blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Mt. 22:28).

V. Better Symbols Of Freedom Due to the people’s sins they were instructed to look to the brazen serpent (Num. 21:4-9). Due to the people’s sins they were instructed to look to the brazen serpent (Num. 21:4-9). Driven to respond by fear not love. Driven to respond by fear not love.

VI. A Better Country Children of Israel sought for and traveled for 40 years in search of Canaan. Children of Israel sought for and traveled for 40 years in search of Canaan. Many died either in route or in an attempt to enter. Many died either in route or in an attempt to enter. Their quest stole their hearts from God.

We look to Washington, the Congress and the President to secure our freedom and keep us safe. We look to Washington, the Congress and the President to secure our freedom and keep us safe. It has its limitations because of the human element and limited capabilities. It has its limitations because of the human element and limited capabilities. Too often, our love for this home interferes with God’s better plans. Too often, our love for this home interferes with God’s better plans.

“But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city” Hebrews 11:16 “But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city” Hebrews 11:16

If you will but let Him, He can make all things better both here and in eternity. If He is not your Savior, you need to allow Him to become so! Jesus said, “Whosoever will, let him take of the waters of life freely” (Rev. 22:17).
