Chapter 4 What violent events does this chapter record? Why do you think nothing was done to prosecute the murder of slaves? How would you describe Douglass’s style? How does he show emotion in recounting the horrible signs he has witnessed? I would describe my writing style as very formulaic; there isn’t much emotion in my words, but it does turn out extremely descriptive. I remember, when I was younger, I was very private with my thoughts and feelings; I never spoke to any one in my family about what was going on in my life. Whenever I wanted to express something to my mother, I would write it on a note and leave it on her bed.
