Copyright 2011 National Business Coalition on Health NBCH’s Strategic Plan  Background and Impetus  Absence of disciplined long-term strategic planning  Volatile environment, particularly with passage of HCR  Desire to take NBCH to the next level  And expand on past priorities/accomplishments in: Establishing NBCH as national player Elevating value-based purchasing Securing a sound financial base Building a core staff team 3

Copyright 2011 National Business Coalition on Health NBCH’s Strategic Plan  Multi-Year Plan  Created Aspirational 2017 Vision  Major Themes:  Refocus core mission: “NBCH exists to help members lead in improving health and the value of health care services in their communities.”  Help members advance value-based purchasing as common strategy  Clarify the impact of health care reform legislation  Improve NBCH sustainability by diversifying business model 4

Copyright 2011 National Business Coalition on Health Helping Members Lead  Revived commitment to serving the interests of coalition members  “NBCH Filter” for prioritizing NBCH activities  Does this enhance the value of member coalitions?  Does this advance value-based purchasing?  Does this advance public policy presence and impact?  All activities, current and future, have been/will be evaluated through this lens and subsequently re-oriented or removed as needed 5

Copyright 2011 National Business Coalition on Health Survey Response & Assessment  60 % response rate for NBCH’s 2 nd Annual Satisfaction Survey – 31 out of 52 coalitions  Survey Overview: slight decline in general satisfaction across the board  Common feedback emerging from the survey as well as the past few years worth of surveys have been documented, assessed, and responded to 6

Copyright 2011 National Business Coalition on Health Action Steps to Date: Grant Opportunities  Announced three, large-scale seed grant programs for coalitions totaling over $700,000 since 2010  Community Health Partnerships  American Health Strategies Project  Community Health Planning 2 other potential seed grant projects in the works  Staffing focus  Systematic grants identification and push to coalitions 12
