Accident and Emergency procedures Practical issues for volunteers:

Information about children’s medical needs have been requested Volunteers need to be aware of children using inhalers In the event of any accidents : Raise your arm to alert coordinator We all return to school however minor Mobile phone is carried and a first aider will be available on sight or at school

Any issues involving the police will be handled by the coordinator Accidents will be recorded in the schools accident book and by the coordinator Do not deal with any potential or actual behaviour problems at the roadside Always report any issues and the teachers will be informed by the coordinator

Bad Weather Policy is different with every school The head teacher makes the final decision If it is raining alternative arrangements will be made ie: Reading, colouring talking about road safety Children must wear coats if it is cold.

All volunteers are to wear ID badges in the school and when out on the roadside Children and volunteers must wear waistcoats provided while out of school Please inform head teacher if you are ill or can not attend a session Checklists must be filled in after sessions and given to coordinator then or at next session All volunteers have to be police checked
