Check-in procedures Bike Check – before entering Athlete’s Lounge Refer to 5.2 in competition rules Handle bars with clip-ons Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) Spare wheels Bike frame Helmet Saddle position (-5cm≤ Men & -2cm≤ Women) Random 25% Approved exceptions on ITU website Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the RACE REFEREE up until 10 minutes from the end of this Athletes’ Briefing Mechanic service available at athletes lounge

Check-in procedures # 3 Athletes Lounge Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race caps) – photos taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution Swim cap distribution, Leave bags in the Athletes’ lounge (use gear bag sticker) – your bags will be moved to the Recovery Area by the LOC

Check-in procedures # 4 Transition Area 1 Helmet check – Do not leave your helmet FASTENED on the bike in the transition The athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

Pre-start procedure Athletes’ Introduction 10 minutes before start – line-up in the Transition Area 1 Jog to the swim platform when you are introduced Select your position and stay behind the line Blocking two positions – DSQ

Start procedure Athletes in position: The start can be given any time after the Race Referee announces ”On your mark” Air horn The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

False start procedure False start Example: Several horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1. (During the time penalty athlete cannot touch any equipment!)

Swim course

Today at 11:30am Water temperature: 12C Air temperature: 21.1C WBGT 16.6C Condition Relative Humidity 43% Wetsuit swim 2 laps (total distance of 1500m) – anti-clockwise Distance to the first turn buoy 300m Pass all Four yellow buoys on the left shoulder and last red buoy on right shoulder Take wetsuit, cap, goggles to transition into the box Swim behavior will be closely monitored and recorded by water based and broadcast room officials. Low tide Women- 14:21pm, Men- 15:49pm

Bike course 1 lap of 4.2km + 8 laps of 4.5km (total distance of 40.2 km) Flat, with a technical part after exit from TA2 2 Wheel Stations - for locations see the map: 1 Team Wheel Station (exit of Transition Area 2) 1 Neutral Wheel Station (turn point 1) Littering Zones with Wheel Stations Lap counter- at the exit of the Transition Area 2 Lapped athletes are taken out of the race First runner / last bike scenario

Transition area 2 Individual bike racks – number, name and country flag Exactly same set-up as for Transition 1 All used equipment into your box. Not doing so, a time penalty of 15 seconds on the run. Dismount line at the beginning of TA 2 (REDLINE)

Run course 4 laps + 1 lap of stadium (total distance of 10km ) Aid stations:  3 per lap (for location see map)  Sealed bottled water  Discard bottles & litter in the Littering Zones (located 20m before to 80m after Aid Stations) Don’t cut short the corners At end of lap 4, Bell+400m of track to Finish Photo-finish Congestion in finish area - Go to mixed zone / recovery area

Run Penalty Box

Run penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, Bike and TA2 For example: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, etc. Transitions will be video recorded for infringements Location: Entering the finish venue Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run. If you do not stop to take the penalty - DSQ

Post race procedures Photo-finish No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area For Top 3 & Series Leaders: 1.TV/Flash Interviews 2.Medal Ceremony 3.Media “Mixed Zone” Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed: Ambush marketing rules apply Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm² Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes.

Ambush marketing rule Ambush marketing is defined as: “Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any. Please follow the ambush marketing rules

Post race procedures Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Located under the Stadium at Finish Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate. Team Medical Doctors’ Meeting Team Medical Doctors’ meeting after this briefing with Medical Delegate and LOC Doctor.

Coaches’ Areas Accreditations will be distributed to those that have been entered through the online system by their NF These Coaches only will have access to: 1.Athletes’ Lounge/Post recovery area 2.Behind the Swim start area- Media lane 3.Media Lane on inner field of stadium 4.Grandstand next to Finish Area 1 2

Coaches’ RUN ACCESS One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the elite run course for 30 minutes from 17:30-18:00 SATURDAY Vests are provided to these coaches by Chief Transition All the coaches will meet at Transition 2 and start at the same time from the same start point – near dismount line Coaches who require this access, must register with the TOs following the athletes’ briefing

Coaches’ Shuttles Accredited Coaches will have access to shuttles from Swim venue to the Finish Area at Green Point Stadium. There are no shuttles from the Finish Area to the Swim Start. 1 2
