Community Wellness Place Update History – Committee did a users and a user group needs assessment Trace planning facilitated Ward and user group sessions and brought all information together in report WSP was tasked with – What is the feasibility of a Wellness Place today – What are the components of a Wellness Place – What is the condition of our current facilities - What is the Cost of a new building today, and what are the operational costs - Funding - how do we pay for it, present day funding options and residents ability to pay

Riverview Community Wellness Place A place to grow wellness in Riverview!

Wellness is alive and strong in Riverview! We have excellent parks, playgrounds and facilities. Great programs and wellness resources for all residents. We reach Seniors – program aquatics, fitness classes, walking, etc. We reach youth – Minor sports, music, drama, Prokids, B & G club, skateboard centre, Atlantic Wellness Centre, etc. We reach adults & families – Ski trails, community events, skates, swims clubs etc. Wellness is strong and growing in Riverview and has a substantial financial and personnel investment from the Town of Riverview!

The question isn’t : Do we need a new rink, pool, track etc.. The question is : How do we continue to offer excellent wellness opportunities and how do we grow those opportunities? We are growing as a town so we will have increasing demands on our facilities, programs and services! We need to protect and plan our future to grow wellness in Riverview!

Needs and wants We will eventually need a third ice surface, in addition to replacing one of our aging pads and we can look for partners and ways to grow indoor winter sports and activities. Having a two tank pool for swim meets, recreational swims, masters swimming, water aerobics, water polo, a warm water pool for lessons, warm water aerobics etc., would dramatically expand our Aquatic offering and activities. Walking is the simplest and best exercise and we are developing walking, snowshoe and ski trails. But we need a safe indoor spot for everyone to walk that is away from the weather! RCWP

A place for everyone to meet, to host events, to bring the community together! When you drop your kids off for skating lessons, etc., there may be something else you want to do at the RCWP. When your kids are waiting to be picked up there are options that will engage your kids in a safe community environment space. Riverview Community Wellness Place A place to grow wellness in Riverview! RCWP

The Feasibility Report Results We know the approximate cost of a facility We know the approximate cost to run it We know the next steps to prepare and plan for RCWP and there is a lot of work to get to the point that we could build a Community Wellness Place. We want to move the wellness movement forward in Riverview in a responsible manner, without big tax increases and by engaging our citizens so it serves every generation! RCWP

The Feasibility Next Steps Work in the next 3- 5 years Partners targeted, packages put together and agreements in place. Exam the best model to operate a RCWP With the citizens develop a conceptual plan and vision, including services and components of a facility, ultimately concluding with architectural drawings and if necessary phasing options. What is the financial plan, funding, fundraising options (user fees) etc. Land analysis, acquisition, geotechnical etc. Shifting community resources and re-purposing the old facility. RCWP

Now is the time to get involved! 1. If you are called for the citizens survey give your honest feedback and ideas. 2. Go to the Town of Riverview website to give feedback ideas, what you can help with etc… Riverview Community Wellness Place A place to grow wellness in Riverview! RCWP

Now is the time to get involved! Thank you on behalf of the Wellness Committee! Questions? Riverview Community Wellness Place A place to grow wellness in Riverview! RCWP
