MDGs Children of uneducated mothers are half as likely to attend primary school as those whose mothers attended primary school themselves.

MDGs Children of educated mothers—even mothers with only primary schooling—are more likely to survive than children of mothers with no education.

MDGs Pregnancy is the leading cause of death worldwide for girls ages 15 to 19. Girls living in poor households are almost twice as likely to marry before 18 than girls in higher income households. Girls younger than 15 are five times more likely to die in childbirth than women in their 20s.

MDGs Women often have less information about HIV, fewer resources to take preventive measures and face high barriers to the negotiation of safer sex because of unequal power dynamics with men. Sexual violence exacerbates the risk of HIV transmission.

MDGs In many parts of Africa, women are far less likely than men to own land. However, they represent 70% of the agricultural workers and provide 90% of household water and fuelwood.

MDGs 3 of 19 G20 leaders are women Since 2000, 4 of 5 IMF heads have been men Of top 10 pharmaceutical companies globally, all are run by men
