Half term 2 week 1 TOTW Do you agree?

1. What is a hobby? 2. Do you have a hobby? 3. What are the benefits of hobbies? 4. Do you know what a synonym is? 5. How many synonyms do you know for the word hobby?

When people do things that make them feel good, like a hobby, it activates an area of the brain called the nucleus accumbens that controls how we feel about life. Activities you enjoy also stimulate the brain’s septal zone — its “feel good” area — and that makes you feel happy, said Dr. Azizi. who studies brain activity.  Read and discuss the paragraph below.  What are the benefits of having a hobby?  What is an adjective, how many can you find in the paragraph below?

 Discuss the quote below  What does Dale Carnergie mean?  What does the word gusto mean in English? What language does the word gusto come from? “Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto.” Dale Carnegie

 Analyse the picture, what do you think happened?  Discuss  Have you or anyone you know been in a similar situation?

A good hobby can become a bad hobby when you or someone else is put into danger. Sadly if not careful a hobby can end tragically for some people! Good hobbies are hobbies that you should enjoy and that you haven't been pressured into doing. You should also feel safe when doing it.  Read and discuss  What is the lesson behind this message?
