Business Macedonia All large company went thought the process of privatization They depend on foreign markets and Government investments

Business Macedonia Some efforts have been done in the Public Transport: Old busses for public transport New busses for public transport

Business Macedonia New look of Skopje Airport (TAV Airports took over the management of Alexander the Great Airport in Skopje and St Paul the Apostle International Airport in Ohrid)

Business Macedonia Business Macedonia What are current problems of the transport sector ► Close work on: Developing and renovating transport infrastructure Dilemmas to go forward true “transport dialogue” Transport companies representatives Removing administrative and legal obstacles to the movement of people and goods Implementing new technologies and transport systems There is no valid collective agreement in transport sector at the moment No trade unions in small and medium private companies Since Macedonia is a part of European transport system, it has to adopt all recommendations, norms, and regulations of the EU. -

Business Macedonia Business Macedonia What should be done ► Challenges: Necessity of improving of social dialogue on both bipartite and tripartite level To do that is very important to strengthen the capacity of social partners (the trade unions and the employers associations) Requisite of networking between employers from this sector (between the “competitive” associations) ♦ functional social dialog is a common goal

Business Macedonia Business Macedonia A regulatory body to monitor the cost of transporting goods Equal treatment for foreign and domestic transporters Prohibition of registration of vehicles for transport of goods older than 25 years, and for transportation of passengers older than 30 years This means protection from unfair competition, low cost transportation, protection of health of the people, road safety and environmental protection. This is the only way of following the trend of providing vehicles with higher standards.

Business Macedonia Business Macedonia Favorable credit lines, to determine the funds for transport companies. Preparation of the Long term Strategy for Sustainable Growth and development of this economic branch. (in the area where the transportation of goods we have a 60% maximum obsolete ridden park, 22% of which is in the limit because it is running again with higher Euro standards)
