Nice to Know If you or a student/child gets a small burn run cold water over the burn for 10 minutes. -Never use butter, grease or ice. -If skin blisters or is charred see a doctor. Cook Carefully -Try to not wear really baggy/lose clothing when cooking. -Put your hair up -Turn pot handles inward so you or your child can’t bump into them. - Enforce a kid free zone when cooking in the kitchen -If a fire occurs when cooking with grease, put a lid over the pan to smother the flames and turn the heat off.

All smoke alarms work properly All escape routes are clear of clutter and easily accessible. The stovetop is free of things that can catch fire such as curtains. Space heaters are off when no one is around them or at home. The clothes dryer has a clean vent and filter. A grown-up always stays in the kitchen whenever food is cooking. All extension cords are used safely. Space heaters are 3 feet away from anything that can burn. The furnace has been inspected in the past year. The chimney has been inspected and cleaned in the past year.
